Welcome to the old checks and fiscal paper section of the site.  The collection of these documents is on the rise as collectors seek new areas of interest where prices are still modest.  These antique items can make a great display in combination with old coins, notes, or just by themselves.  As with other similar collectibles, they are sought after for many different reasons - particular issuing locales or banks, by vignette (picture) such as all checks with pictures of dogs, documents signed by famous historical personages of the past, all checks in amounts of less than one dollar, etc.

The list is endless and so is the variety of material to collect.  Stamp collectors are also interested in many of these as they are often found with revenue stamps from a bygone era attached to them as was the custom.  Other checks and similar items such as warrants and promissory notes came with an imprinted revenue stamp as a part of the document.
