Welcome to the wonderful world of souvenir cards! We have acquired a nice selection of some of the neatest of these cards. Most of the ones we offer were professionally engraved and printed by the United States Bureau of Engraving and Printing (USBEP) and feature modern proof notes of some of the most beautiful and valuable banknotes ever issued by the United States of America. Original dies of famous banknotes that were issued (and some that never were) are used in the creation of these USBEP cards. Each was offered for sale for a limited time, in conjunction with a major U. S. numismatic show, and many have become sought-after collectibles in their own right. It's a great way to own banknote artwork that might otherwise be unavailable to the average person because of the rarity and high cost of the original engraved banknotes. Some cards additionally are postally cancelled on the first day of issue. This can add extra value to certain cards. In our listing below, we will indicate any cards which have been postally cancelled. The two $2.00 cards feature postage stamps (not currency) and are much less valuable than the cards with the notes.
A few of the cards we may offer from time to time are private issue, such as the card at the lower right in the above illustration of four cards. In this instance, this card was a private issue, offset printed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Worcester County Numismatic Society (Massachusetts). As a member of the club, I actually designed this particular card.
